This summer, brewers and beer enthusiasts from around the world are coming together to fight ALS through Ales for ALS™ — a fundraising program where breweries create delicious beers and donate proceeds to fund ALS research.
Rahr Malting Co. and RahrBSG are proud to support Ales for ALS™, and we look forward to joining the rest of the craft beer community for a beer-release party happening Saturday May 24, 2025, at August Schell Brewing Co. in New Ulm, MN.

“I have lost loved ones to ALS. It’s a terrible disease that isolates patients and can make family members feel helpless. But with Ales for ALS, we’re sharing more than a beer. We’re sharing hope and a vision for ending ALS. My son’s father-in-law Jim Brandon loved nothing more than sitting outside with a beer and live music; there are a lot of Jim Brandons out there, and this would be his community. I’m grateful to Rahr for joining the fight.”
– Jean Marschall, Rahr Corporation Accounts Payable Specialist
“Ales for ALS is close to my heart. I lost a family member to this devastating illness, and it means a lot to work for a company that’s stepping up to support the fight. I’m proud to be part of something that honors all those impacted and helps push research and treatment forward.”
– Megan Hanaman, Sr. Director of Customer Experience & Marketing Strategy

About Ales for ALS™
Ales for ALS™ is an international fundraising campaign. It was created in 2013 by a Yakima Valley hop-farming family to raise funds and awareness for ALS research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI). Breweries from around the world are invited to join Ales for ALS™. Once accepted, participating brewers receive their requested amount of the unique hop blend, created and donated annually by Loftus Ranch and Yakima Chief Hops exclusively for brewers participating in this fundraising program. There is no charge to brewers for this amazing hop blend. Ales for ALS™ brewers donate $1 to the ALS Therapy Development Institute for each pint of the resulting Ales for ALS™ brew sold. The funds raised are spent immediately on their mission to discover and develop effective treatments for ALS. All proceeds benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI).
