Rahr Technical Center and University of Nottingham Collaborate on 2026 Lead Brewer Course

The Rahr Technical Center and the University Nottingham have once again teamed up to offer the RahrBSG Lead Brewer Course, a 14-month course designed to build operational excellence and practical brewing expertise.

In partnership with the University’s International Centre for Brewing Science, the program offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from some of the most respected names in the industry – including Charlie Bamforth, Tom Shellhammer, Chris Boulton, Ashton Lewis, and a host of international brewing leaders.

“The credibility of the two institutions combined and the resources available through that the program are of the highest value,” says Paul Hedlund, brewer at Summit Brewing Co. and 2024 graduate of the program. “When looking at the roster and the length of the course, you know you’re getting a very detailed look into all facets of the industry, but all the information is given in digestible way that makes it attainable.”

The flexible, work-friendly structure features live lectures every two weeks (also available on-demand) to accommodate demanding brewery schedules.

Students will undertake a one-week residential workshop at the Rahr Technical Center in Shakopee, MN.
