The Rahr Technical Center and the University of Nottingham are collaborating for a second year to offer the Lead Brewer Course, a unique professional development program for brewers of all skill levels. Graduates will earn a certificate from one of the world’s top brewing science institutions, equipping participants with the skills and credentials to advance their brewing careers.

This program features an expert-led assessment process, with coursework reviewed by seasoned brewers who provide detailed feedback and one-on-one support. Participants gain hands-on insight into global brewing traditions and a instruction from the industry experts.

The course lasts fourteen months and consists of biweekly live, plus a one-week residential workshop at the Rahr Technical Center in Shakopee, MN.

“The credibility of the two institutions combined and the resources available through that the program are of the highest value,” says Paul Hedlund, a 4-year veteran of the brewing industry and graduate of the program in 2024. “When looking at the roster and the length of the course, you know you’re getting a very detailed look into all facets of the industry, but all the information is given in digestible way that makes it attainable.”
